Google

Search and everyday information

Google is the main search and information app for Android, suited to people who want one place to look up websites, news, images, local information and answers to spoken or typed questions. It also provides a direct route to Google services from the phone, making it useful for routine searches as well as quick checks while using other apps.

Ways to search

Alongside standard text entry, the app supports voice queries and visual search through Google Lens. Lens can examine text, objects and scenes seen through the camera, while on-screen search tools can help identify or explore content without first describing it manually. These options make the app relevant when typing is inconvenient or when the subject of a search is something in front of you.

Personalised information

The Google app can also surface updates based on a person’s interests and activity. Its Discover area may show articles, sports information and other topics selected for the user, turning the app from a search box into a recurring information feed. The usefulness of this section depends on the interests and settings associated with the account.
